Goods From Recycled Woods was founded in 2010 by James Hassall, a carpenter and joiner who sees the potential in creating something functional and beautiful from discarded materials.
Timber is a natural product that can be used over and over again. Our timbers are primarily sourced from building, packaging and manufacturing waste, therefore reducing landfill.
In our Mordialloc workshop, we work with a variety of timbers. We use Paulownia due to it’s excellent properties for both indoor and outdoor furniture and homewares. Paulownia is a honey-coloured, light, high strength variety of bamboo that is plantation-grown, enabling long term sustainability.
Other timbers we source include: hardwood – Victorian Ash, Messmate, Ironbark & Tasmanian Oak. Soft woods – Oregon, Baltic Pine, Radiata pine & Meranti.
